DIDO & AENEAS V.1.2

Taking the form of a premiere to a much anticipated movie, this production tells the story of a fading starlette's tragic destiny at the hands of a merciless and cruel star system. This pop art variation of Purcell's classic (Dido & Aeneas) will keep you riveted in your seat, as a series of colourful tableaux's fuze classic opera, electronic music, large screen projections and theatre unfold before your eyes.

This operatic evening of electronic music, video and dance will have you clutching your pearls!

Dido & Aeneas v.1.2 was originally developed as part of the TechnOpéra series presented by l'Opéra de Montréal and the Society of Technological Arts.

  THE CHRONICLES OF CITIZENX

Experience this modern fairy tale where you will be taken on a twisted adventure into the subconscious mind of a man on the edge. Disillusioned by his life in the city of Necropolis and helped by the mysterious Green Fairy, X abandon's everything and leaves in search of top blue movie actress, Hollywood. His journey takes him aboard the Midnight Express to the city of Neon, where meets the fantastic Broadway, who makes all of his dreams come true... or does he?

The Chronicles of Citizen X will dazzle your senses by seamlessly dabbling its way through opera, cabaret, pop, rock and electronic music!

  A NIGHT AT THE RED LIGHT CABARET

Open Pandora's box and enter the Red Light Cabaret where you will witness a young and innocent cabaret performer named Lolita as she is drawn into a surreal world of pure decadence. Through an eclectic mix of opera, music hall, electronic music and visual projections, you will be lured into fulfilling your forbidden dreams in a place where anything is permitted. However, beware of temptation, because sometimes, there is no way back!

A Night at the Red Light Cabaret starts off in a glamorous music hall and gradually transforms itself into a Cabaret where absinth flows and where devilish characters lurk backstage. It is a performance that will please the relentless epicurean in you!

  ANDROMEDA

"Although it is forbiden, I wonder what is beyond the darkness..."

Dive head first into a subterranean world where pitch darkness reigns and where voice is the only landmark. Andromeda recounts the vicissitudes of an unusual young woman who gives birth to a new prophet,who, according to ancient beliefs, will be the "bearer of evil."

Discover this imaginary world and culture at the crossroads of Filipino folklore, opera and technological arts. A one of a kind experience into sound... and darkness.

  SWITCH ME ON!
BLACK & BLUE FESTIVAL 2009

As artistic director to the shows presented at the 2009 edition of Black & Blue, mïka & the notorious Theatre POD group presented an homage to la Commedia dell'arte. Mixing the magnificent vocals of soprano, Chantale Nurse, as well the unique choreography of Jean-Marc St-Yves, this presentation dazzled with several offerings of a potpourri of pointed shoes, opera, disco and house music.

  SONGSPIEL: CABARET ÉLECTRONIQUE
Divers/Cité 2005

Set to an electronic score melding opera, classic music hall, visuals and theatrics reminiscent of the work of Andy Warhol, Klaus Nomi and Kurt Weill, Songspiel, is a multi-media blitz that dazzle the senses. A double program featuring Dido & Aeneas v.1.2 and The Chronicles of CitizenX in the second half.
